Podium #5 - Success (according to Rick Rubin) and I Wish You Were Dead
A bi-weekly curation of timeless music, thought, and video to inspire optimism and action (2 min read).
Music
Kan Sano: My Girl
Listen on: Spotify, Apple, and YouTube.
I owe this one to Metic, who shared this track during the listening session of Episode 10, Part 1 of ProducerHead.
This song really just rocked me immediately (I did not hold back in my reaction during the episode…).
The production is beautiful and he gives us multiple grooves and feels that are so fun throughout.
Honestly, just excited for you to hear this one.
Thought
I have been diligently (albeit slowly) finding my way through Rick Rubin’s “The Creative Act.”
Think Steven Pressfield’s “The War of Art,” but less aggressive and less career oriented.
From Page 219 (in case you have a copy).
“How Shall We Measure Success?
It isn’t popularity, money, or critical esteem. Success occurs in the privacy of the soul.”
This hit me this week.
At times, it may feel like a potentially overwhelming responsibility to define your own success.
At the same time, an important part of staying the course, not to mention, actually providing yourself a path to success.
